Sendai Mediateque

We are moved by the terrible situation in Japan and our thoughts are with those that are suffering at this time.

One of our favourite buildings, Sendai Mediateque  by Toyo Ito and lighting design by Kaoro Mende’s LPA in Tokyo, received the full force of the earthquake but thankfully it would seem the building has survived – check out this footage which shows just how amazingly well the building was engineered to be able to deal with a quake of this magnitude.

And just why we love this building: lighting design at its very best.
