We are very excited to announce details of Ready Steady Light, one of the events we are organising for this year’s Light in Winter festival at Fed Square in Melbourne.
What is it and how does it work you may be wondering…
It’s a four hour group activity between 12 and 4pm on 22 June for pre-registered teams to transform an everyday, domestic object into a fabulous work of light art.
You will be provided with a large scale object that forms the basis of the work and to which you add light and materials drawn from the ‘Useful Box’. Useful Box materials may include fabric, rope, cable ties, light globes, mirror, glow tapes, cardboard and a range of recycled things.
The foundation of your light work may range from a shopping trolley to a step ladder and from a bicycle to an ironing board. It will be ‘luck of the draw’ on the day. Riggers will hoist and secure your light sculpture to form a permanent part of the “Light Hearts” installation in the middle of Fed Square. With tools and technical assistance supplied, release your inner sculptural lighting designer and contribute to the wonder of Light in Winter. Works will be unveiled from 6pm, with a chance to win a designer light fitting for your efforts.
To register your interest, submit your team (max 5) and tell us which object in your house you’ve always thought would be better as a light! Email us at readysteadylight@electrolight.com.au
