Last night we have a wonderful Objective: Light session in Melbourne. To coincide with this year’s Light in Winter Festival, three of the major participants in the festival spoke of their work and ideas to an audience of lighting enthusiasts.

First, Sydney industrial designer and artist Rob Caslick spoke about his cBraille concept of creating Braille with LED. He shared some of his research and how his idea has been realised.  rob’s installation near the vaults in Fed Square is well worth checking out and we look forward to seeing how Rob develops the concept from here.

The second speaker was Joe Norster from The Projects. Joe showed us a movie of guerilla lighting in a park with a generator and some fairly lights as well as some wonderful photos from his 200 torches community installations at Fed Square.  If you haven’t already done so, get down to Fed Square in the month of June to make your own light sculpture with Joe and his team; it’s great fun.

And finally, we were treated to some video footage from the world renowned, Melbourne based art duo Eness. Rather than try to describe their work with words, check out their website and treat yourself to some serious lighting viewing. And if you are in Melbourne, make sure you have a go on their LED see-saw in Fed Square before it is dismantled at the end of June.
