The restaurant has a strong emphasis on the use of local materials and resource and energy efficiency. Accordingly, the decision was taken that almost all lighting was to be by LED. This posed the designers some significant challenges; how to deal with an intense light source without causing glare and how to create the warmth in the light required for such a restaurant. For the most part, in various different incarnations, the lighting consists of LED lighting detailed to illuminate sculptural pieces which serve to break up or diffuse the light while presenting the sculptures themselves in a very favourable manner. Care has been taken to avoid glare and to render the faces of patrons in a shadow-free, complimentary way.
The lighting control system affords a range of different scenes allowing maximum flexibility for the programming of the restaurant. Australian products are used extensively.
