Westfield Sky Lobby

Working closely with John Wardle Architects and Westfield Design and Construct, Electrolight was engaged to design a lighting scheme for the Sky Lobby of 85 Castlereagh Street, Sydney. With a ceiling height of over 14m, Electrolight faced the design challenge of how to light such a voluminous space and create a well-lit environment without resorting to a strong down-lit scheme. The final outcome was a scheme that placed an emphasis on lighting the vertical surfaces and allowing them to radiate light – and warmth from the timber – into the interior. The ceiling lights are, by comparison, of a much lower intensity and provide a subtle fill light to the central areas.
