On Friday night, at the Queensland Lighting industry’s night of nights I had the honour and privilege of receiving the Award of Excellence on behalf of Electrolight for our light sculpture in the Robina Shopping Centre.
The work draws on the principles of lighting theory, sine waves of light metaphorically passing through the space, made manifest in a series of concave and converse ellipses, silver- leafed, suspended from the ceiling and dramatically illuminated with spot lights. As is often the case with these things, there were many people involved whose contribution shaped the outcome – Horatio, Rachel and others at Electrolight, our clients from QIC Stuart Miller and Geoff East, our fabricator Dean Phillips who worked closely with us and used his own lateral thinking (using a boat builder to craft the moulds was his idea). To all of you this award is dedicated.
