Donn’s 28 years experience in lighting design exhibits a combination of creativity, innovation and leadership. With a background in visual arts and engineering, coupled with a passion for the craft of lighting and it’s influence on the visual realm, Donn’s insight and vision drives his team of talented designers toward modernism of illumination design in the built environment and the world of light art.

This approach has gained the respect of his peers, affirmed by the receipt of multiple accolades including 32x International Lighting Design Awards, 14x IESANZ Awards of Excellence and 23x IESANZ Awards of Commendation, including 2x Supreme Brilliance Awards for Lighting Design Project of the Year (in 2014 & 2011) and the IALD International Radiance Award for the most outstanding project 2025.

Donn is dedicated to the ongoing development of the lighting profession in Australia through his involvement in the IALD as National Vice-President & NSW Chapter Coordinator, the University of Sydney as a key lecturer for Illumination Design, as well as former positions as Expert Advisor to the GBCA (Green Building Council of Australia), Co-Founder of Objective:Light and GLO: Guerrilla Lighting Organisation.

Delivering more than 1,600 projects during his career, Donn’s experience covers a wide range of sectors across both the art and construction industries. Donn’s proven project track record, depth of expertise and international awards recognition secures his standing as one of the nation’s most respected figures in lighting design.
